Hard Water Skin Care
The simple solutions often go unnoticed so let's review the
simple things first. If your dry skin has just started, if you have hard
water, or swim a great deal, you should try changing your
cleansing system first. It's a simple 3-sterp process.
- Stem #1 - turn down the
water temperature in your shower! Increasing water temperature in the spring and
fall to "warm up the shower area" or "just because I like hot showers" is quite common
but it may be causing your dry skin problems.
- Step #2 - you can try using your shampoo as a body wash in place of what
you are using now.
(For non-swimmers use -
Malibu Well Water Action Shampoo or, for swimmers,
use "Swimmers Soap" aka "
Malibu Swimmers Water Action Shampoo ") The Malibu shampoos are designed to remove
the hard water elements or chlorine elements from your hair. However your skin
and hair are basically made of the same material so your shampoo can also be a big help
with your dry skin.
- Step #3 - If Step #2 does not work by itself - try using small amount of
Malibu Well Water Action Conditioner or
Malibu Swimmers Water Action Conditioner, on the skin to be
sure all your skin is properly rinsed.

Hard Water Skin Care
If changing your
water temperature and changing your cleansing system does not work or you have both Hard Water
and Very Dry Skin there are a variety of factors that may
be causing your dry skin,
however, dry skin is most often caused by two factors; slowing of exfoliation of
skin cells and oxidation. The following oxidizing elements cause dry skin:
- Chlorinated water
- Sun exposure
- Air and wind
- Detergents and cleaning solvents
- Heaters and air conditioners
Additionally, as the body ages, the sebaceous glands do not
produce as much sebum, the oil that lubricates the skin. Skin cells which
normally exfoliate and reach the surface of the skin every day and a half can slow
down, resulting in abnormal exfoliation causing dry skin.
The EC Mode - Malibu wellness approach can help heal
and prevent dry skin by shielding skin against harsh oxidizing elements and
normalizing the exfoliation rate of skin. Research now confirms that nature's
own vitamin C and vitamin E can:
- Scavenge free radicals that cause oxidation
- Provide a barrier of protection against further oxidation
- Penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin to replenish moisture and
improve skin's smoothness
- Normalize the exfoliation rate of the skin
- Increase collagen synthesis

The three (3) step home system approach is shown below |
